iChef helping hospitality businesses STAY in business.

Early in the New Year I will finally see years’ worth of blood, sweat and tears come to fruition! iChef Pro is nearing completion and ready to launch!

I have been working on this project for many years, since my first disastrous attempt at running my own restaurant.  Since then, I set on a mission to understand what really is needed to run a successful hospitality business.

At iChef, we are currently working on a system that will put an executive chef in everyone’s kitchen.  The aim is to manage all the information required to monitor where the money is going, and flag issues to be looked at before they snowball.  We are aiming to be ‘proactive not reactive’.

We realise that not all Chefs are financial managers or simply many of them just don’t like the bookwork side of running a kitchen.   On top of that, there are a large number of ‘non-industry’ owners who rely heavily on their chef/cook to not only produce amazing food but to also know how to manage a kitchen and make them money!

Over the years, I have seen many establishments run by unqualified Chefs whose food is outstanding but when it comes to financial management they fall apart.

Hence iChef was born.  We aim to take the financial side away and let them concentrate on their passion – food.  The systems and tools are designed to give the owners peace of mind that their kitchen is being managed correctly by providing them with all the information needed to assist with making decisions on financial issues.

iChef Mobile is currently available as an app through iTunes.  It is essentially a tool for menu costing, ensuring that dishes created are sold at the right price.  It is a simple and easy to use, on-the-go tool that allows you to have control over profitability of your menu.

What do I know about the industry? Well, I have experienced the highs and the lows that the hospitality industry has to offer but I am still extremely passionate, as I truly understand what it is like to have your back against the wall. And yes I still have a life of pushing pans in my own catering company.
